By the way, I was more closely reading that FT post and had a few thoughts about it...

Y'know the Europeans have constantly complained that the US current accounts deficit was "dangerous" and claimed the Americans needed to do something about it...

Well, I guess that's what we're doing... hehe

And I thought the following was rather telling:

On agriculture, Mr Aldonas said the effect of deflation in Japan and recession in Europe had been "to drag down commodity prices across the board in the US," while the strong dollar had hurt exports. He said Washington planned no specific trade measures to protect those sectors.

Again... using currency devaluation to subsidize their economies on the backs of the US economy just ain't going to cut it.. The US is going to decide who they grant favorable access to, with regard to American markets, and probably dependent on the level of restructuring they undertake.
