Hi FR1, There are 25-30 publicly listed Trinidad based companies; some traded in Trinidad and others traded in Jamaica; almost all qualify only for micro-cap status when compared to US companies, and all are of course selling at discount to their global big brothers, while paying more of their earnings in dividends. Perceived risk drives the discount to global cousins.

You are right about the BP and ExxonMobile of this world, and besides, there is no particular point in investing directly in oil/gas companies in any case, as they must pay for what they get in reserve.

I have asked someone for the details on these 30 companies. I am now convinced, as much I can ever be convince of anything, that Trinidad deserves more ambition, attention, and allocation, but perhaps not with my own NAV already in nest. When and if I pull the trigger, I will post here. It is something fun to do in a slow global market blanketed by a long dark night. I may simply work to mobilize the capital of others for the hard work and sup in a few dimes from the torrential flow of such mobilized capital. I will update as I move along.

I am also checking out a piece of land in Tobago, for the sentiment of it.

Chugs, Jay
