Is there a resident expert on SUNW here?

If you find someone that claims to be, then they probably aren't it!

Thoughts on the suit?

I'm not sure how much the suit really has to do with SUNW, the company, in its core business. We all know that McNealey has a bit of a "thing" about Microsoft, that he gets carried away with it from time to time, but that it is also far from groundless. The suit is another salvo in that war. Like other salvos before it, in time we will find that it either misses the target entirely or that it hits, most likely a glancing blow which won't really change anything fundamentally. Still, one can argue that the effort needs to be made to keep trying so that MSFT is at least held in some nominal check. I for one don't believe that anyone at Sun will be basing their planning for the future counting on the success of this suit as a key item.

thoughts on the [SUNW] suit

My first reaction on reading about the suits lodged by AOL and SUNW was that Case and McNealy were engaging in a little strategic gamesmanship. Putting some weight behind objections to the government settlement.
