I'm sure this isn't fun for you. I know it isn't for Poet. Wow, maybe not for Poet, but I would just love it! Who wouldn't enjoy: Having handsome guys and beautiful women fighting over you? An esteemed group of "Who's Who on SI" engaging in a free-for-all, a melee, for weeks and weeks, clawing, scratching, name-calling, fussing and feuding ... all over little ol' you? A whole thread being commandeered and dedicated for one sole purpose and cause ... you and only you? All these very bright people -- E, X, Neocon, Lazarus, JLA, Bill, Michael, Mrs. Peel, Karen (sorry if I missed anyone) -- spending the better part of their time, day after day, night after night, talking only about you, defending you, arguing about you, worrying about you, fussing over you? Cable lines crackling and humming day and night, as PMs fly back and forth, SI notables trying to organize support for you, "out" people as to where they stand about you, pressure people to line up one side or the other of your cause? The best legal minds on SI working, sweating, giving their best to negotiate contracts and agreements on your behalf? Seeing long-standing friendships coming apart, people getting suspended, and all for you? Maybe Poet doesn't enjoy it, but I can't understand why not. How many times in your life do you get to be a cause celebre?
