It's good to have these discussions. I hope I'm not too strong in my opinions to keep anyone from discussing.

One thing I'd like to note when looking at indexes-

Yes an index is composed of individual stocks, and if the stocks are weak, (In the majority), the index is weak. But, even in the strongest uptrending markets, 1/4 to 1/3 of the stocks will be declining- so you can always make the case that 'these certain stocks' are weak. The real question is- are more joining them?
