Actually, it makes perfect sense. Philips controls the CD logo, and standards, and encryption does not comply with these standards. Therefore, if the big companies want to introduce encryption they should place it on a new format (or an existing proprietary format... i.e. MiniDisc) and let the consumer decide. Seems fairly logical. I'm just hoping that AMD does not get caught up in the digital rights management fiasco that is going on right now. It's a mess plain and simple and we should expect the government to help with regulations sometime around 2010 ;-))
