A lot of words well said to defend flawed thinking which ultimately accomplishes what you need war till the end of time. Your logic is exactly correct and unless it changes and the logic of leaders who do likewise peace is an unattainable goal. So much for Christians ever getting it right.

well tariffs in economics are like a nuclear arsenal in military confrontations. you want to negotiate from a position of strength, not lay down your weapons and hope others won't take advantage of you. believe me they will, as we have witnessed time and again. since the beginning of time countries have tried to dominate each other and gain the upper hand. it is no different in the arena of economics. if you think we need to subjugate the best interests of our country in some sort of goodwill gesture or as an act of appeasement because we don't want to offend our so-called allies, think again.

Very well said. I do not understand why most people don't understand this simple, obvious human condition. Those who believe that mankind can live harmoniously in an utopian world are delusional imo.

That is why the words trust and distrust were invented.
