Hi Illmarinen.

The cost of the fiber is not the problem. Its the cost of the router on both ends that takes the fun out. DWDM optical multiplexing is great. Its another technology waiting for transceiver, backbone and routing to slide down the cost curve.

Sprint never cared what I did with my 3.5mb/sec DSL pipe 2,000 meters long as opposed to the whining bozo's minding the store at the Cable company. It would have been a decent freenet backbone.

I like fiber. I like Mercedes SLK's too. Just can't go without food to pay for them.
