LOL...Mexican prisons for Americans only...hahaha, could be....but NOT at the loss of our prison guard jobs! Legalize drugs? Not at the loss of our Prison guard jobs(sorry, had to sneak that one in there)!!

Staying on topic, Bush should forget Nafta and simply end all U.S. import and export tariffs immediately. After the turmoil and dust settles, this would indeed do the most good we as a country can do in this area, for the sake of the whole world. Bush should legalize drugs and thus literally blast crime and improve the public safety- just as indeed happened after Alcohol prohibition ended(there is nil argument, me thinks, left to say otherwise anymore, in America- a good thing- Freedom Works).

Get after it George W., lol.

>> The tariffs on steel will cost every consumer in this country <<

so what? what made our country the greatest power the world has ever seen was not the wanton spending habits of materialistic, self-indulgent consumers. it was our ability to produce.

>> Another big problem with tariffs is that you are counting on politicians to take a hands on approach to managing the economy <<

unfortunately regulation is a necessary evil with capitalism. man is too selfish and immoral to regulate it himself. witness enron. obviously the founders and all the people who voted to ratify the constitution agree that it's necessary for congress to decide on matters of foreign trade. otherwise article I section 8 of the constitution would not have said, "The Congress shall have power to... regulate commerce with foreign nations,"

>> there are things we certainly should consider....prisons for one ....could be a growth industry for Mexico.....Let them be our jailers <<

prisons in california are a growth industry for illegal immigrants. illegal immigrants make up 15% of all prisoners in california. mexico should start by incarcerating their own criminals so we don't have to.
