RE: ""We have no current plans to build any more greenfields (new plants) in the next year or two," he said."

This supports my hypothesis that this will be a long, slow upturn. New technology requirements, not capacity will be the main driver.

In the market, like everything else, there is little benefit in "fighting the last war". This is a much tougher environment than 1998, but the quality semis and semi-equips will reward. Valuations are much higher and prospects are less immediate, so trade, sell covered calls, do anything to lower the cost of accumulation, but accumulate. We will get past the bubble aftermath. The timing is uncertain, but the accomplishment is inevitable. Once past, technology will take off on a much sounder technology basis than the previous excesses.
