Greg: Question: Would the Hammer be judged in the "PC processor" category or the "server processor" category?

Where is Intel's Xeon processor judged?

Initial Clawhammer shipments will almost certainly target high-end PCs and workstations, along with low-end servers. Sledgehammer (if it actually arrives) would raise this bar somewhat, targeting >2 way servers (as well as workstations).

How much use Sledge will see in PCs is still an open question.

Greg,

Thanks for the info. I looked for info on 1999, but I couldn't find it.

Question: Would the Hammer be judged in the "PC processor" category or the "server processor" category?

Based on the roadmap, the processor to be released in Q4 2002 is Clawhammer, which will be a desktop chip. Clawhammer MP and Sledgehammer are scheduled for 1H 2003.
