You can't produce domestic ore without machinery
In Houston you can see the big ships get loaded with junked cars and shredded rusted cans. They aren't sailing to Pitsburg. There would be plenty of ore for the mini-mills in the landfill if the army needed a new tank.

Are you saying that we don't have iron ore? Are you saying that we don't manufacture our own mining equipment?

You can walk around and around about it all you want, but the fact remains that steel is a vital industry that we need to stay independent militarily, and heaven help us if have to depend on foreign countries to supply us what we need in time of need.

If I'm wrong and you're right, all it costs is some money. If I'm right and you're wrong, I shudder to think what it would cost us.

So...I vote for keeping our steel industry vibrant.
