don't you think we are vulnerable without a steel industry?
A lot of depressed third world countries have a steel industry. That means to me that it is no key to world power. I have a hard time believing that in case of war every one of the steel producing nations would refuse to sell to us. It would be nice to have a thriving steel industry just as it would be nice to have a variety of strong businesses but I don't think this commodity plays particularly to any national strength.
