CEBIT Intel to launch chip exceeding 3.0 GHz before year-end

HANNOVER, Germany, Mar 12, 2002 (AFXAsia via COMTEX) Intel Corp expects to launch a microprocessor for PCs running at more than 3.0 gigahertz before yearend, Intel Marketing VicePresident Mike Splinter said.

Intel's Pentium 4 microprocessor currently runs at 2.2 GHz.

Intel launched today its Xeon processor MP designed for midtier and backend servers running at 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 GHz.

The new products are expected to boost performance by more than 30 pct versus existing multiprocessing systems using the Pentium III Xeon processor depending on applications and configurations, the company said.

Today's introduction follows the February launch of the Intel Xeon processors for dualprocessing servers and workstations, it said.

Technusatsu,

Your links don't stand up, and Dan's do. In a situation like this, you (and others) call Dan a liar and moron, such as here:

Did I argue in favor of Dan's opinion? What I said that when Dan posts something that turns out to be incorrect, people are quick to call him a liar. Wbmw did the same thing as Dan. Is it appropriate to call him a liar and moron? I don't think so.

All I am saying is, take it easy on Dan. When he posts something that you think is not correct, respond with your post disproving his point, but all the name calling is getting boring.

Joe

"He incorrectly attributed differences in Business Winstone performance to the graphics cards. Not to mention that he called ME a moron"

I second his opinion. Video system performance plays
tremendous role in Business Winstone. All bus. applications
are no more than Windows painting, re-painting, and
menu popping, which require serious bit-blitting
functionality to perform well. Why do you think so
much attention is paid to maintaining screen resolutions
and color depth, why would people religiously mention
video driver versions and sub-versions?

Now, the S3 Twister is an integrated chipset, with
Unified Memory Architecture, as opposed to 32MB of
super-last GeForce4, a dedicated AGP chip. The UMA
video sucks up a significant portion of memory bandwidth
which hammers all other performances. Could you
find for me any benchmarks for i815 system with
integrated video, and for the same system with any
dedicated AGP card - GeForceX, or even Matrox G400?
I do not recall seeing these data, they are not
published, for obvious reasons.

For notebooks, as an example, there is review of few
P-III- 1GHz machines,
common.ziffdavisinternet.com
where Business Winstone 2001 ranges from 23.7 to 30.4.
I guess you have to conclude than the
"Internet Streaming SIMD Extensions" in one P-III
lose credibility in front of "Intel® MMX™ media
enhancement technology" of another P-III.

In brief, you shown off yourself as an arrogant moron,
classic Intel-style. Dan3 was right in his assertion
about you.
