expresses the genesis of of your libertarian perspective as well, no?

It's a way of explaining how weird it is to be of libertarian bent given the left-right framework in which we operate. When you don't fit the standard categories, you end up spending a lot of time thinking about how you do relate to them. As you know, I'm with the left on some issues, like the environment and abortion, and to the right of Genghis Khan, as JLA would say, on social security and unions, for example. It feels odd. So I've had motivation to ponder it.

As for the genesis of my libertarian perspective, I think that comes from the same place as my religious beliefs--from my temperament. I'm freedom loving and individual and I instinctively chafe at anything authoritarian or claustrophobic.

I don't know that a liberal outlook is the same thing as libertarian. One could have a liberal outlook and end up a bleeding heart liberal, for example. I think of a liberal outlook as more inquisitive and open minded and libertarian as more about freedom.

Is my 50 minutes up yet?
