The reason I still is because I as well see a lot of good coming out of organized religion although I overstated my case earlier. Often though, it seems the negatives overweigh the positives.

It is hard some times to not be discouraged by some of the funny business coming out of your congregation. I see all sorts of funny things in all sorts of funny places but I really try to just pay attention to my own actions. (And that can be a handful!)

I must admit to being surprised, pleasantly that you are a member of a church but while I am not. I think it not much of a difference either way in case you are having doubts. It really depends again on what you do. Although often times churches can be involved in charity work that help focus people's attention and efforts on a problem that they, individually, might not have as much success addressing.

I also find churches very good at directing aid directly to recipients. I work with a church downtown on a food program and there is no one between my donations and the dinner table except a volunteer from the church who picks up and drops off.

Anyways, I gotta get back to work, later.
