We're getting the pullback the chart indicated would come last week.

I know some of you out there are going to think I'm crazy but I think the NASDAQ bounces at or prior to the 1850ish mark.

Sivle's dart landed square in the middle of 1850.

I'm looking to pick up some additional long positions. The short term noise is creating long term opportunity in my opinion.

Aero,

I always like to know where the VIX is.

I can't find it right now, but I know I've seen an overlay of the VIX to the S&P and the VIXN to the Naz. As I recall, in 2001 it was pretty good for calling the big moves, low vix's signalling complacency and danger, high vix's signalling opportunity. The thing is, the Vix cousins are good at signalling the big moves and don't do much for smaller, intermediate moves. For that you need to follow other things.

Aero:

This isn't my favorite chart but you can trace the highs in the VIX (Dec 00, April 01 Sept 01) with very opportunistic times to buy stocks, while the lows (Sept 00 Feb 01 June 01) were dangerous, to say the least:

finance.yahoo.com^VIX&d=c&k=c1&c=^gspc&a=v&p=s&t=2y&l=on&z=m&q=l

Does anyone have a better charting service for this kind of thing? I can't seem to call up longer charts for the VXN. ??

I also recall, looking at the VIX and the market, that at least at certain times there was a "settling period" before the market followed the VIX signal.

As noted before, though, the VIX and the VXN do not signal every move.
