Isn't it the brits who drew the maps dividing that side of the hemisphere into countries and who authorized the "recorded history" of such?
No, that was the Pope. Everything one side of the line was Spanish, the other (effectively Brazil) was Portuguese.

Ireland would recieve support. This could actually contribute to an economic boom in your region...maybe. Any way it couldn't be much worse than it is now.
I'm not sure what these last comments mean. I presume they're insults bred from ignorance.
Eire (Ireland) is booming quite nicely - perhaps a bit slowed by the tech/telecoms fall, but still growing if not at the 8% clip of the last few years - and is having to repatriate. Their population is growing for the first time in - well, decades if not centuries. If you haven't been to Ireland recently, reconsider - it's a great place and has a wonderful atmosphere at present.
The UK is also growing, apparently the fastest in the OECD or G7 at present (which admittedly is not saying much) after being second to the US for the last decade, and still has skill shortages in various areas.

Verbus sapientis, it's best not to try and jeer about specifics when you are plainly ill-informed. Stick to witless generalities as they're harder to refute by logic or fact.
