AIRNET RECEIVES $1.7M IN ORDERS FROM REDWOOD WIRELESS BASE STATIONS TO BE INITIALLY DEPLOYED IN 5 OF THEIR 12 U.S. MARKETS BUSINESS EDITORS/TECHNOLOGY WRITERS MELBOURNE, FLA.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MARCH

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

13:00 ET MELBOURNE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 13, 2002--AirNet
Communications Corporation (Nasdaq:ANCC.Q), the technology leader in
base station products for wireless communications, today announced
that Redwood Wireless, a new AirNet customer, has placed orders for
$1.7M of AirNet equipment including AdaptaCell(R) Broadband, Software
Defined Radio and AirSite(R) Backhaul Free(TM) base stations. Redwood
has licenses in 12 rural markets in Minnesota, North Dakota, South
Dakota, Michigan and Wisconsin and the initial order will be deployed
in five of those markets.
"While other vendors addressed some of our concerns, AirNet was
the only one that could address all five of our objectives:
reliability, speed to market to meet our initial buildout
requirements, flexibility to accommodate an evolving business plan,
the ability to scale up to larger capacity networks and a technology
that evolves easily to high speed data applications," said Joe Beran,
general manager of Redwood Wireless. He also indicated that he hoped
to place additional orders with AirNet for initial systems in
Redwood's seven other markets in the near future.
"AirNet has proven to be the vendor of choice as more and more
operators with rural and highway coverage requirements are discovering
the enormous advantages and reliability of the AirNet solution," said
Glenn Ehley, president and CEO of AirNet. "Allowing customers to
deploy voice coupled with high speed data in rural and highway
locations provides a competitive advantage over others."
