>> so, are you feeling any closer to a real commodities move... up? or still with the longer frame of time? <<

i think the bottom on the crb made in november around 180 looks like a solid support, bottoming out at nearly the exact same level as in early '99.

the spike above 200 looks very sharp, so i would advise getting in on pullbacks.

i'm still not convinced the stock market has bottomed and begun a new bull market, but the economy may have bottomed for the time being, keeping commodity prices firm. i want to make a distinction in the differences between the stock market and the economy. i believe the economy can bottom out without the stock market going up in a meaningful way. most people assume the economy is on the way back so stock prices must be headed higher. i believe this is a misguided point of view, and most overvalued large caps can be dead in the water while commodities outperform.

i hope that made sense. i will try to summarize:

i am less pessimistic on the economy simply because the government is spending so much money to prop it up. that doesn't translate into optimism about stock prices however. they are still overvalued in most instances and i think that will prevent them from any lasting gains.

i am more optimistic about commodities and i believe they will outperfrom stocks no matter what happens.

>> surprised you are going political on here btw. <<

no one wants to talk commodities so i got bored with talking to myself.
