Neither.

Justice from a societal point of view.

On a personal level, I have no difficulty with the death penalty...if I were the victim of a murderer as the victim's family...I would probably want the death penalty...and be willing to participate in the execution.

I'm just a lot more conflicted about it now from a societal POV because I don't trust the justice system. I mostly don't trust judges and politicians and in some cases juries....ie "Simpson jury"...

I was really disturbed by the commutation given the murderer in the case that I cited earlier. We had an execution go off as scheduled about a month later...it seemed so capricious to me...the guy that was executed was guilty, but he gets the death penalty while the guy before him (murderer of 3) is allowed to have his sentence commuted to life....it seems just a "luck of the draw" in how the executions were timed to come up.

That part of the administration of the death penalty I find despicable. I'm not against the death penalty in principle, I just find myself untrusting of those who are in authority to administer it.
