High Grade Tantalum Discovered At Outpost Project, Arizona
3/5/02

SUR AMERICAN GOLD CORPORATION ("SUR-V") - High Grade Tantalum Discovered At Outpost Project, Arizona
Mr Rennie Blair, President, is very pleased to advise that the Company has started its 2002 exploration program on a high note with the receipt of high grade tantalum assays from its 100%-owned OUTPOST Project, which is located only 50 miles NW of Phoenix in Yavapai County, Arizona.

The Outpost Pegmatite system is an extensive pegmatite swarm consisting of multiple NE-SW trending pegmatite bodies. The swarm has been traced for at least 1000 metres and is at least 100 metres wide. Within this swarm individual pegmatite bodies range in thickness from several metres up to 50 metres. The pegmatite system has experienced very little mining which has been restricted to the extraction of bismuth and feldspar minerals during 1947 and 1948.

Tantalum mineralization at the Outpost Project consists of disseminated fine grained MICROLITE. NB. The mineral microlite is favourable because it has an attractively high (70%) tantalum content which should make any concentrated mineral product more commercially interesting.

The microlite mineralization appears to be concentrated in the intermediate zones surrounding the large quartz core zone and also in adjacent parts of the wall zone.

Initial sampling consisted of a 10 metre line chip sample within the intermediate zone near the original workings. The sample like all the other samples from the Company's projects was sent to XRAL Laboratories in Don Mills, Ontario for sample preparation and analysis. The analysis was carried out using the X-ray Fluorescence(XRF) method of analysis. The result is displayed below: 10 metres @828 g/t Ta205 and 316g/t Nb205.

The sample was exceptionally pure with extremely low levels of other elements that often accompany tantalum mineralization. Based on initial field observations several other areas within the pegmatite complex display the same or very similar appearance as the initial area where the sample was taken from, thereby opening up the possibility for multiple exploration targets. The Outpost Project is very well located with respect to roads, towns, power and water.

SUMMARY

The Company is extremely encouraged by these early results and plans to shortly embark upon detailed follow-up exploration of the entire Outpost Pegmatite Complex.

The Company is expecting further initial exploration results from most of its 8 wholly- owned high technology metals projects in the SW USA in the near future. The results will be released following receipt and checking and possibly reanalysis as required. Sur American Gold Corporation is a junior company focusing on the exploration and development of certain high technology metals such as tantalum, niobium, lithium, rubidium, cesium and all the rare earth metals such as yttrium, lanthanum, cerium etc. The Company, which trades on the CDNX with the Symbol "SUR" recently announced a $100,000 financing in order to undertake initial exploration of its projects and for other working capital.

On behalf of the Board of Directors,

J. Rennie Blair, MSC., F.Aus.IMM
