Mike, thanx a lot. That clarifies everything. If the surplus is depleted that means this year IBM won't have that extra monay to pad their earnings and if the market doesn't cooperate (like I expect) they may have to start contributing some cold cash (out of their earnings) to their pension fund. Also every time they reduce the assumed rate of return they may have to also reduce future earnings expectations.
