It certainly threatens one's belief in a benevolent all-powerful government... I know you think I'm looking for boogeymen under the bed, but I'd rather not find anomalies. They start to appear when you read critically, follow the influence, ask questions of who is doing what, and who benefits. The first concern after 9/11 was why neighborhood watches weren't set up immediately, like WWII, to protect our crown jewels, the American people. They weren't because that was never the goal. The goal is to have a war.
