She is one of my favorite artists and I like all of her CDs...Here is a web site with a good bio on her...justin-time.com I actually seem to like her new CD....it grows on you after a while...She has partnered with Tommy LiPuma (who took Natalie Cole to the top of the charts). According to the folks at Billboard 'The Look Of Love' CD is on top of the Jazz charts right now...billboard.com JAZZ <<...Patience paid off for Diana Krall last year. After running second in 1998 and 1999 on the recap of the Top Jazz Albums of the year, she ended up in first place in 2000 with "When I Look in Your Eyes." That album comes in fourth for 2001, but Krall also has the top album of the year with the follow-up, "The Look of Love" (Verve). The effect of Ken Burns' "Jazz" series on PBS is felt on the annual summary, with seven out of the top-25 albums bearing Burns' name and an association with the critically acclaimed documentary series. With other albums by jazz legends selling well in the wake of the series, the annual recap is filled with names that span many years, including Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, and Jimmy Smith. Krall is the No. 1 jazz albums artist for the third consecutive year. John Coltrane is second, and Jane Monheit is third. After Coltrane, the top males are Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, and Tony Bennett. After Krall and Monheit, the top female is Billie Holiday. A 10-year reign comes to an end in the recap of the Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart. For the first time since 1990, the No. 1 album is not by Kenny G. At the top of the list is French techno producer Ludovic Navarre, who recorded the album "Tourist" (Blue Note/Capitol) under the name St. Germain. Based on the strength of this one album, St. Germain is the No. 1 contemporary jazz artist, followed by Rick Braun, Rachelle Ferrell, and Boney James. That means another 10-year reign is broken, as Kenny G had been the No. 1 artist for every year from 1991 to 2000...>> Diana seems to be doing a lot of touring too...billboard.com It seems like Pacific Northwest Jazz Artists (Kenny G and Diana Krall) have dominated the charts in the last decade...They both used to play at Jazz Alley too...=) Hope you're having a good week. regards, -Scott
