Your team ain't that good. Posada had a bad year last year (.838 OPS vs. .944 the year before; he's gonna turn 31 this year and catchers age faster than position players). Robin Venura is gonna turn 35 this year, has been sub-.800 OPS 4 of the last 5 years (so he ain't suddenly going to get good; see Paul O'Neil or Tino Martinez); Bernie Williams is great but he ALWAYS gets hurt; he played 146 games last year and in the 9 years since he became the Yankees center fielder he's only played more than that ONCE (and being great doesnt' do anyone any good if you don't play); plus he had a huge fall-off in production last year (.917 OPS after being over .950 each of the last 4 years) which is a bad sign and could be an indicator of decline since he's 33; Soriano has ZERO patience at the plate and that will be exposed by pitchers this year (everybody talks about what a POS Jose Offerman is; he had a .716 OPS last year versus .721 for Soriano; I don't see a lot of difference there); your corner outfielders, Shane Spencer and Rondell White, are nothing to write home about (and before you start talking about how much "potential" Shane Spencer has, he just turned 30 and has a .792 career OPS, which is OK for a Dominican shortstop but is patently un-acceptable for a corner outfielder; he sucks and isn't going to get better). Nomar (if he's not hurt) is better than Jeter (frankly, this is not a debatable point so please don't engage). Jason Giambi is a great player, but he's a first baseman and production is easier to come by at first base (see my comment on Tony Clark), and he's only had three really good years. On the other hand, Manny is a year younger, has had a .950 or better OPS every year he's been a regular in the major leagues, and has been just as productive as Giambi in the last 3 seasons. So I'll take my lineup any day. Pitching is harder to tell. You guys have a better staff, but its old and could break down. Plus, we're going to score 75 more runs than the Yankees, which is a lot for the pitching staff to make up. Cheers
