uhohh....just how big is "too big"-- I have a file like that.......
My mother had a black Underwood. I loved to smash the keys all together and then unstick them. It was like pick up sticks or a puzzle. And then we would pound away like mad to get it to the dingy at the end. What a tribute to the quality of that machine that it worked for so many years despite our abuse.

My mother was an incredible typist-- a court stenographer, briefly, which gave her a nervous breakdown, and then a typing teacher, which gave her a nervous breakdown, and then a legal secretary-- her best job, because she was an organized control freak with fantastic grammar and her bosses adored her.

She never made mistakes... can you imagine typing with carbons and never making mistakes? I make about ten a sentence. The pressure of a carbon would--
give me a nervous breakdown.
