Targeting branch and remote offices of large companies, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises in the three cities, the network will deliver symmetric DSL-based business services and voice over DSL (VoDSL). COLT has selected Alcatel's voice over DSL solution, based on the Alcatel 7310 Loop Voice Gateway (LVG). The LVG allows up to sixteen additional voice lines to be deployed over the same copper connection, delivering significant savings to enterprises and new revenues with minimal incremental investment to service providers. The Alcatel 7310 LVG solution is unique in the industry for its ability to be deployed either as a standalone VoDSL solution or as a blade upgrade in each Alcatel 7300 Advanced Services Access Manager (ASAM). Supply and maintenance of the Alcatel 7300 ASAM, the world's most widely deployed broadband access platform, is also included in the agreement. COLT's central office traffic is aggregated and transported across the wide area network using multi-protocol core and multiservice edge equipment based on the industry-leading Alcatel 7670 Routing Switch Platform and the Alcatel 7470 Multiservice Platform. The Alcatel 5620 Network Manager provides seamless network management across access, edge and core devices to improve provisioning efficiency and customer service. "Alcatel's leadership in broadband access and its significant presence in Spain were key factors in our selection", said Angel Rojo, director general of COLT Telecom in Spain. "Alcatel is not only able to deliver broadband, but the entire support network that ensures DSL is profitable for COLT and attractive to our business customers." "Alcatel is closely involved with the proliferation of broadband services in Spain, as befits the market leader", said Michel Rahier, president of Alcatel's Broadband Networking activities. "It is a privilege for us to expand our relationship with a carrier as dynamic in the European market as COLT Telecom."
