Reminds me of the story in Cheaper by the Dozen -- did you ever read it? Our generation tended to -- where stood behind the children as they typed and whacked them over the head with a pencil when they made an error. Awful!

a;sldk was our warmup exercise, along with the sentence "All good men come to the aid of their country." On CH's prompting about the bell, I again dragged out my Remington to make it ring one more time. I hit the space bar and nothing happened .. it didn't space even once, much less the distance out to the bell. After a split second of thinking it no longer worked, I remembered that I had to release the space bar before it actually spaced and then repeat the process for every space out to the magic ringing of the bell. It was a feeble ring, but a ring nonetheless. Then I rolled in a piece of paper and typed "All good men ....." It was a strange experience, making me wonder how I ever typed all those reports in college. Here's a link to the new-fangled Dvorak keyboard that CH mentioned.
