"It seems to me that the distinction between going after people because they're evil and going after them to protect ourselves--is it about them or is it about us--is it about morality or protection--is pretty obvious."

I made the point and you did not refute it, that:

They're evil is about them targeting our innocent in heinous attacks, for the purpose of engendering similar treachery throughout the world ....so it IS ABOUT they're being evil and ... it IS ABOUT protecting ourselves. No distinction.

If the THEIR MORALITY is defined as purveying acts of terrorism, it is evil and it is in our self interest to call it that and fight against it. What Morality are you talking about if it isnt the morality of terrorism which is a very active and perilous threat...not navel contemplation.

"THEIR MORALITY on the brain rather that OUR SELF-INTEREST.

If the THEIR MORALITY is defined as terrorism...it is evil and it is in our self interest to call it that.

This is you putting ye ole "religion the external authority" that we humans use to be cruel to everyone not like ourselves, spin on it.

If you are afraid Bush is talking about people who wear funny cloths and have stange cerimonies,....you're in a very strange ball park. Swing and a miss.

I understand you have a problem with the term "morality" and the term "evil" because you can't separate that from religious intonation. Your anti-religious bent and your accusations that believers are unfairly judgemental is duly noted. However, nothing in Bush's presentation is about cultural, religious, or ethnic differences as far as I can tell. Nothing in it draws comparisons between doctrine of one group or another. The only focus is on those who are purveyors of terrorism as a direct and active threat against innocent victims.
