Thanks for replying. I really respect and admire you (and those guys) who went there willingly and gave of your best for your country, and I have acknowledged that in an earlier post to someone else. What you said was true. But what I wrote was also true. A good number of graduate students were worried that the war would not be over by the time they graduate with the result they would be required to serve. As for the Peace Corps, there were some members who honestly told me they joined it to escape having to serve in Vietnam. Some of the draft dodgers told me they came to Canada because they lacked the qualifications to get into schools or they were rejected by the Peace Corps.
