WARREN, N.J.--Anadigics Inc. today said it now expects its wireless revenues to increase 13% sequentially in the first quarter to $9 million compared to sales in the Q4 period last year. Broadband communications chip revenues are also ahead of target, said Anadigics, which estimated these sales at $10 million for Q1.

Overall, Anadigics still expects Q1 revenues to be sequentially lower than $21.0 in the fourth quarter. But two months ago, the company was expecting sales to only reach $17.5 million.

"In the last month and a half we've seen a strong resurgence in demand throughout the wireless channel," said Bami Bastani, president and CEO of Anadigics. He attributed the launch of code division multiple access (CDMA) 1xRTT service by Verizon Wireless in the U.S. market and a return to balanced inventory levels after the holiday season for increasing demand in amplifier modules based on indium-gallium-phosphide (InGaP) heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBTs).

The Warren-based company said it now expects a loss per share of $0.38, excluding special charges, which is $0.02 per share better than its previous guidance. Overall, Anadigics said it anticipates revenues to be at about $20 million in the second quarter, with a sequential improvement in earnings per share.
