RE:Bush's stance in the ME is likely to breed a load more would-be pilots.

You don't like the US backed UN proposal for a Palestinian state? Wasn't it the Brits who helped create Israel in the first place and displaced the Palestinians to refugee camps? You can't blame Bush for everything, he's walked into a previously created bad situation and is doing his best to fix it.

would-be pilots.

I think weakness is more likely to result in more actual attacks. Osama looked at the events in Somalia and the ineffectual responses to the first WTC attack and the bombing of the Cole and apparently figured figured that if you just kill some Americans you can get them to run, and all they will do is maybe toss a few cruise missiles in your direction. Iraq hasn't attacked the US as directly (even though it is a huge supporter of terrorism) and it has violated the cease fire agreement. Saddam has shown that he is dangerous and while I would prefer to avoid the destruction a war would cause (even if most of the destruction would be to our enemy) its better to take care of the job now, then it 10 or 15 years against an Iraq with nuclear weapons.

I am very glad that Israel damaged Saddam's nuclear program in 1981 or Saddam might have had nukes in 1991.

Tim

Comes to the same thing, yes?
No. Would a demonstration help?

Bush's stance in the ME is likely to breed a load more would-be pilots.
You wish. Not so far, though.
