Tony - the UniSys box is indeed a niche - they have sold only a few hundred units and many if not most of those were under very special "seed" circumstances. I think DELL did the original deal to give "headroom" for an all-DELL solution. But given the other things needed in that market - professional services and so on - DELL was missing too many other parts to make the big machine a gating factor. Probably wise to drop it.

I would suspect that Intel will provide everything needed to offer 8-way machines that look like 16 ways using the new Xeon chips, so there should be a less proprietary way for DELL to go after that market if they ever decide to go there.
