That's a fine explanation for added performance, but it doesn't account for 7x. You can check out more criticism for Sun's new benchmarks on many of the hardware sites around here, including Ace's Hardware and Real World Tech. Those in the industry that are familiar with realistic performance improvements from tweaks in compiler code know to call foul on Sun's bogus SpecFp scores.
