I spoke briefly to a Placer Dome geologist at PDAC. He was very familiar with Porgera and also Mt. Kare. I was surprised to hear from him that there is already a 4-wheel drive road all the way to Mt. Kare. I haven't seen any mention of that in the MNP publicity.

His view is that Porgera still has a few years of economic deposits left, and these are still lower cost than anything confirmed yet at Mt. Kare. However, as Porgera begins to run out and PDG is sitting on a mill that cost a few hundred million $ to develop, Mt. Kare will begin to look much more attractive. As he put it, "It'd be a no brainer to process Mt.Kare ore at the Porgera mill at that point, instead of walking away from a huge investment".

So, maybe I'll just keep accumulating MNP at 10 cents for a few years -- and then retire! :^)
