Jim-
Once again, we're thinking alike. I just shorted 30% of my VPI, (against the box). But, rather than sell outright and pay ordinary tax on the whole 4 point gain, I'll pay it only on the hoped-for gain from this short sale (1 1/2+ points?) while keeping the original holding intact.

However, I still have ALL of my HC and I plan to keep it that way for the next few points.
