Symbian needs 'tens of millions' of handsets sold to break even - report

"We need tens of millions of units to be shipped before break even will be reached," chief financial officer Thomas Chambers told the news service, but declined to predict when that will happen or how many Symbian-enabled devices will be sold this year.

Chambers said that only 589,000 mobile phones using Symbian software were shipped last year, compared with about 400 million handsets sold worldwide.
