In humanity's cost, its probably the most expensive thing mankind has ever bought. We could convert our auto fleet to NG, our power plants to NG, and just use oil for aviation fuel. The deposits of methane hydrates google.com off JUST the coast of N & S Carolina alone are enough to satisfy our needs for several hundred years. The deposits all over the world several thousand years. Sure there would be a disruption for several years, but IMO we need to get away from arab oil, and let them go broke. They produce nothing else of value to the world except oil. They are a one trick pony. That new govt ad campaign that says buying illegal drugs supports terrorism should be changed to reflect what's more the truth..buying arab oil supports terrorism.
