>If we assume power dissipation is proportional solely to the square of the voltage, a reduction of 0.1 V from 1.85 V yields a power saving of about 11%. If we assume Athlon speed is limited by raw power dissipation alone, we get a new top speed grade of (1.733 x 1.11 = 1.92 GHz). If we are a little bit generous and call this 1933 Mhz, this means the Athlon can reach an XP rating of 2400 on the 0.13 process.

Actually, it would be closer to 12.5%, so the projected peak speed grade based on this assumption would be 1.948 GHz, making 1.933 GHz conservative.

Have-you considered the possibility that AMD may have left the voltage high to allow TBred to be compatible on current platform (almost all bords can do 1.65V).

A4 (1.4GHz, 1600+) is already running at 1.4V, AMD masters low voltage like no others.
