He liked to drink a lot too.. Don't forget that important factor. But he was mentally ill, and it runs through the genes of his decentants. BTW, Hills Like White Elephants may be my favorite short story by him. And I have a first edition of For Whom The Bell Tolls. Scored it for $5 at a book store close to 20 years ago. It was in a box that someone brought in and just sold the lot. The owner wasn't there and the dufus at the counter couldn't care less. I asked how much, he said $5. I said sold. Thank you very much!
