Plus, it sort of ruins the fun the academic historians were having sneering at the recent problems of the popular historians. Ambrose and (the woman's name escapes me at the moment) did a little plagiarizing, but that's not as bad as outright making stuff up and then lying about it. They admitted their mistake and apologized.
