Do you see any purpose being served by putting her in jail? Any purpose served by punishing her at all?

I'm very ambivalent about the death penalty, but if you don't apply it in this case you may as well take if off the books.

If you say anyone who could do this must be insane, and we don't punish the insane, then you will only punish petty criminals and let the heinous ones go.
