It is entirely plausible to hold Andrea Yates responsible for her actions while recognizing that others are culpable for contributing to the circumstances that made the tragedy possible. I totally agree with Mrs. Peel. I also hold that Andrea Yates is responsible for her moral choice to murder, knowing that murder is wrong. She is responsible for murder, but her husband helped set the circumstances that made her choose to act in the way she did. He knew that she was cracked, the circumstances under which she cracks, and he had the means to help her help herself avoid cracking. He didn't. That is blameworthy.
