A flawed argument. You seem to be asserting that the pro gun control stance is that the crime rate is directly correlated to the number of guns. However, this is not the stance. It is that the CONSEQUENCES of readily available guns is much more devastating. First off, Britain has an increasing social problem, unrelated to the issue of gun control. Their youth are disaffected, lack hope of a better future, or are just plain pissed off. Maybe it's from mad cows, I don't know. But the rise in hooliganism has been well documented, and is a result of social factors in Britain. The simple fact is that it is easier to kill someone with a gun than any other means. Therefore, a typical crime committed with a gun will result in more injuries or deaths than the same crime committed without a gun. The proof? YOU provided it; although Britain's per capita crime rate is higher, it's per capita murder rate as a result is still much lower than America's. Thanks for showing that there is a relationship between crime rate, gun availability, and resulting murders.

Interesting charts....we have a relatively new concealed carry law in my state that allows any qualified citizen to obtain a license to carry without so much of a hassle....Opponents of the law were crying about blood in the streets and the normal noise expected from that crowd....so far it seems to be working just fine....though i am sure any single incident that might demonstrate their point will be blown all out of whack ....while the normal everyday asshole committing crime will be accepted as business as usual..... Most people that take the time to legally carry a firearm understand they are putting a heavy responsibility on themselves.....
