I think you and I and Mrs Peel are all coming from the same place. I am not letting her off the hook but truly feel that an unstable person was forced into a position she couldn't handle by an asshole husband who knew all of this and didn't care. She cried out for help on many occasions and he ignored the obvious. When he remembers this tragedy he might want to think about his own part in all of this IMO.

Derek...

I fully agree with you.

There are many reasons to hold Mr. Yates in contempt.

Bottom line...arrogance, hubris, self- centeredness.

Andrea was a victim, but she allowed herself to become a victim. She was mentally abused (from my psychology 101) by her husband again and again.

He was a controlling, self serving, unapproachable person, who stood back and acted like HE was the victim and had no control over the situation.

She was once again a victim suffered at the hands of an indifferent Doctor who tolerated the abuse she was receiving with an aloof, stand-offishness that is unforgivable by a trained medical person.

Her husband is as much to blame, maybe more so, than she was. He should have been sitting in the seat beside his wife in the courtroom. Now he is once again taking the high ground, playing the "Poor misunderstood husband" It doesn't fly in the face of reality.
