6. 1999-Aug 00 - Qualcomm QCP860 (800 MHz AMPS/CDMA) data * * * * The short life of the QCP860 is attributable to the fact that Verizon obsolesced it when they required "tri-mode" for tiered national rate plans I think the QCP860 is one of the greatest cellphones ever made. I love mine and refuse to switch to a national rate plan for that reason. I too am waiting for an 1xrrt phone (probably a Samsung since they seem to be the leader of the pack these days).
