I agree I think people that can buy a few trusts are better doing it directly than paying extra management fees.

Trusts of trusts don't bother me that much. You're right about the fees, but it should not be a problem provided the manager isn't too greedy. I mean, if you hold units yielding on average 10% you'd do a good business by taking 1 to 2% to manage it. That's nothing extraordinary.

One thing I would make sure however is to buy a fund that has some track record. Look at Guardian High-Yield Fund, it has a consistent and proven record.
