I was not aware. A bad tradeoff. We should have learned from WWII that the best policy is to whack the hell out of your enemy, then reconstruct them. Respect their traditions and rights, but plant the seeds of a strong economy and democracy. Nation-building has received a bad rap recently. If you want the snakes and alligators gone, you have to drain the swamp.
