Ok, I'll try further, even though I don't have the complete context of your article. I believe the left is focusing on the potential reduction in our freedom to travel easily (airline inspections), to privacy (national IDs) etc. It is a straw they can grasp. They seem to lose all sight of the purpose of these possible changes (or they may in fact consider them devious). As far as I am concerned, if they achieve an improved level of protection for this country, they will be well worth it.

I'm not sure people really believe you can ever lose personal freedom..
After all, I can go to the ATM and get 500 bucks just to go have coffee at starbucks...
If we start hanging people from bridges,
If we start putting stupid white men on milk cartons,
if we start rounding up towel heads and throwing them in curry camps,,,,
well,,,,people might start to get afraid at that point...
Hey, I can still borrow money at 24 percent....
If i really want to talk to the president...
